A gentle, grounded start to learning - we believe early childhood education should honor the magic of childhood, the wisdom of the land, and the joy of community. Through tending the garden, caring for animals, exploring the land and sharing homemade farm-fresh food, Root and Rise helps children grow strong in body, nature, and curiosity.
Now enrolling for Summer 2026!
In addition to regular enrollment, we are offering weekly summer sessions where each week will have a theme (tbd)! An exciting chance for new families to join the program. $195 per week.

INTRODUCING
Miss Katrina
LEAD TEACHER
Hi there! My name is Miss Katrina, and I am so excited to be the lead teacher at Root and Rise. I’m thrilled to join Dusty and Riley as we work together to grow food and grow some amazing little learners.
I’ve been working with children for over 10 years, and for the past several years I’ve taught kindergarten at a play-based public school here in Southern Oregon. You may also recognize me from America’s Best Kids, where I previously coached gymnastics and now enjoy helping out at the front desk. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me in my garden, at the lake, floating the river, camping with friends, working on a puzzle, or cozying up with a good book and a matcha.

I am most passionate about giving kids a safe place to be exactly who they are, while helping them build confidence, resilience, and kindness. At Root and Rise, your children will spend their days in nature’s best classroom—digging in the soil, discovering how food grows, and exploring the world around them. Together, we’ll practice problem-solving, develop fine motor and social-emotional skills, and engage in other developmentally appropriate learning—all in ways that feel natural and joyful. Whether we’re cooking, gardening, creating art, or building with sticks and stones, every activity is designed to support their growth and spark wonder.
My greatest hope is that your children leave each day not only well-fed and happy, but also curious, confident, and inspired by the world around them. Together, we will cultivate responsibility, respect, kindness, and strength—all while fostering a deep love for nature and the joy of learning. I can’t wait to meet you!
